Purchasing Miva Merchant Modules

Where to get them, how to install them, and what to watch out for.

Where to get them?

You can buy Miva Merchant modules at the Module Store.

How to install them?

Installing Miva Merchant modules themselves is an extremely simple task. Every module that is compliant with Miva Merchant's API (Application Program Interface) is generally supposed to be installable by using the built in "Add Module" feature available in the Miva Merchant administrative interface when you click on the arrow next to "Modules" on the left hand navigation.

The "Modules" should be the second link on the left that has an arrow next to it. Above it should be the "Users" menu link with an arrow on the left as well, and then above that are several links with blue circles next to them. Exactly how many depends on the version of Miva Merchant you are using. In the 4.23 version of Miva Merchant there are six such links with circles to the left: "Refresh, Main, Shop Miva General Store, Shop Miva Warehouse, Domain Settings, Store Selection Layout".

If you don't see the word "Modules" with an blue arrow to the right of it near the top of the items listed on the left hand navigation of your Miva Merchant administrative interface then one of the following are likely the reason:

  • You are running in "Simple Mode" in which case you need to click the link at the top of the screen towards the right that says "Switch to Advanced Administration" and then you should be able to see the link on the left of your now changed Miva Merchant administration.
  • You are not an administrator. If this is true then the only links with triangles that you see in the left hand navigation of the Miva Merchant administrative interface are probably "Users" and "Stores"
  • You are running an version of the Miva Merchant administrative interface that has been modified using the co-branding features of Miva Merchant. In such a case you might see links related to a hosting control panel that your host makes available for your convenience, or you might be running a piece of software that is adding a bunch of junk there. And thus the "Modules menu is further down on the list of options on the left in the Miva Merchant administrative interface.

What to watch out for?

When choosing modules you should make sure that the modules have been written by a reputable software development company, that they abide by the Miva Merchant API, that they are designed for the version of Miva Merchant that you are using, and that the if you experience problems using the software that you have a way to get a hold of someone quickly who can help you.
